Geese

I came across a large field with a lot of geese. My brother decided that he would run and cause the geese to fly away. I captured this sound as the geese were just sitting there and as they fly away. You can also briefly hear my brother talking in this recording. I placed the mics onto a small tree near the geese and then walked away and let it record. Listen here.

The Woods

I came upon a heavily wooded area near a walking path. I placed the mics on the branch of a tree and recorded all of the nature sounds. In this recording, the hum of nature can be heard as well as a plane overhead. Also, some people walking on the path can be heard talking. Listen here.

Loud Cricket and Getting Ready for Wedding.

As I continued walking I came upon a large tree and walked underneath it. I could hear a very loud cricket and decided to record it. I clipped the mics on twigs on the tree and recorded. There were people getting ready for a wedding near this tree and this can be heard in the background of the recording. Listen here.

Cars Driving By

As I followed my drift pattern, I came across the road for the driving tour of the Arboretum. I placed my mics right next to the road by clipping them onto a metal fence. Listen to the sound of cars driving by here.

Waterfall

My first sound that I recorded was of a waterfall I came across. This waterfall was part of an exhibit at the arboretum. I set my mics on a rock just near the edge of the pool of water and let it record. Listen here.

My Drift Strategy

My drift strategy is to walk a completely straight line, as the crow flies. I will come across different sounds as I walk along this line. No matter what obstacles come my way, I will continue on this imaginary line. I am doing this at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Victoria, Minnesota.
